Seattle Full Day Tour from Vancouver
Seattle is about 230 kilometres south of Vancouver, with an international border in between. The Seattle Full Day tour covers the drive, the crossing and three attractions of your choosing, in a private vehicle with a chauffeur who does this run regularly.
You pick the stops. We handle the route, the border lanes and the parking, which in downtown Seattle is worth the fare on its own.
A private chauffeur-driven day trip from Vancouver to Seattle and back, running roughly eleven hours door to door. You choose three attractions from a list including Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, Seattle Premium Outlets and the Future of Flight Aviation Center. Each stop allows about ninety minutes. Admission is paid separately.
Before You Book: The Border
This is the only tour we run that crosses into another country, and getting this part wrong ends the day before it starts. Read this section first.
Everyone in the vehicle needs valid travel documents. For most guests that means a passport. Canadian and US citizens can also use a NEXUS card or an enhanced driver’s licence at land crossings.
Many nationalities need authorisation to enter the United States. Visa Waiver Program travellers need an approved ESTA before travelling, applied for in advance. Everyone else needs a valid US visa. Your Canadian visitor status does not carry over.
Entry is the officer’s decision, not ours. If any passenger is refused entry, we turn around. The tour rate still applies, because the vehicle and chauffeur were provided. Nobody enjoys that conversation, so please check your documents carefully before booking.
Wait times vary. The Peace Arch and Pacific Highway crossings can run anywhere from ten minutes to well over an hour, worst on Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and long weekends. We check live wait times and pick the faster crossing on the day.
Coming back matters too. Returning to Canada means a second inspection. Declare what you bought.
One thing most people do not know. Canadian residents returning after less than 24 hours outside the country do not qualify for a personal duty and tax exemption. On a same-day trip, purchases can be assessed for duty and tax at the border regardless of value. If outlet shopping is your main reason for going, factor that in. Check the Canada Border Services Agency site for current rules.
We say all of this upfront because no competitor does, and a $2,000 day should not end at a border booth.
The Honest Time Maths
| Segment | Time |
| Vancouver to the border | 45 to 60 minutes |
| Border crossing | 15 minutes to over an hour |
| Border to downtown Seattle | 2 hours |
| Three stops at 90 minutes each | 4.5 hours |
| Travel between Seattle stops | 45 to 60 minutes |
| Return drive and crossing | 3 to 4 hours |
Expect eleven hours door to door, and closer to twelve on a busy border day. An early start is not optional on this tour. Three stops is the realistic maximum. Anyone offering five is counting the car park.

Choose Your Three Stops
Pick three when you book. Each gets about ninety minutes.
- Stop 01
Future of Flight Aviation Center
Boeing’s aviation centre outside Everett, with exhibits on aircraft design and manufacturing, jet engine models, a genuine 727 cockpit you can sit in and hands-on displays.
Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Boeing Everett factory tour has been subject to suspension in recent years, so we check whether it is running on your date before you commit to this stop.
- Stop 02
Chihuly Garden and Glass
Next door to the Space Needle at Seattle Center, this is the strongest pairing on the list because you can do both without moving the vehicle.
Dale Chihuly’s blown glass fills eight galleries and a 40-foot glasshouse, with an outdoor garden where sculptures sit among the planting. The Glasshouse piece runs 100 feet in length overhead.
It takes an hour comfortably, which leaves you room to combine it with the Needle inside a single ninety-minute slot if you move briskly.
- Stop 03
Museum of Flight
Often the better aviation choice, in Tukwila south of the city. It holds a Concorde, the first jet Air Force One, an SR-71 Blackbird, a Space Shuttle trainer and a full Boeing 747 you can walk through.
Open every day, which Future of Flight is not, and it makes an easy first or last stop because it sits on the route in from the border.
- Stop 04
Pike Place Market
Opened in 1907 and one of the oldest continuously operating public farmers’ markets in the United States. It spans nine acres of downtown and holds hundreds of farmers, fishmongers, craftspeople and small merchants.
Around ten million people visit each year, which makes it Seattle’s busiest attraction. The fish throwers at Pike Place Fish Market are the show most people come for. The original Starbucks storefront from 1971 sits across the street, and the queue there moves faster than it looks.
Below the main arcade, the down-under levels hold record shops, bookshops and oddity stores that most visitors never find.
- Stop 05
Space Needle
Opened on 21 April 1962 for the Century 21 Exposition, the Space Needle stands 605 feet tall and remains the symbol of the city.
The observation level was rebuilt in 2018. It now has floor-to-ceiling glass, tilting glass benches that lean you out over the city, and the Loupe, a rotating glass floor one level down. Standing on it is genuinely uncomfortable, which is the point.
From the top you get downtown, Elliott Bay, Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and, on a clear day, Mount Rainier standing on its own to the south.
Book a timed entry slot. We can arrange it so you walk past the queue.
- Stop 06
Seattle Premium Outlets
In Tulalip, about forty minutes north of downtown, with more than 125 stores. Adidas, Coach, Kate Spade, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger and the rest.
Because it sits north of the city, choosing this stop shortens your driving day rather than lengthening it. Many guests pair it with Future of Flight, which is nearby, and skip downtown entirely.
Read the border section above before you plan a serious shopping day. Same-day returns to Canada carry no personal exemption.
Other Options
- Museum of Pop Culture — Frank Gehry building at Seattle Center, with music, sci-fi and gaming exhibits
- Seattle Great Wheel — a 175-foot observation wheel on Pier 57 over Elliott Bay
- Pioneer Square — the original Seattle, red brick and ironwork, with the Underground Tour beneath it
- Kerry Park — the postcard skyline view with Mount Rainier behind it, ten minutes and free
- Ballard Locks — working ship locks with a salmon ladder, best from June to October
- Starbucks Reserve Roastery — a working roastery on Capitol Hill, more interesting than the Pike Place original
- T-Mobile Park or Lumen Field — if there is a Mariners, Seahawks or Sounders game on
Tell us your three and we build the route so the driving between them makes sense.
Admission Costs
Attraction tickets are separate from the tour rate. We can pre-purchase so you skip the queues, which matters most at the Space Needle.
Prices change and several venues use dynamic pricing by date and time, so we quote current figures when you book rather than publishing numbers that go stale. Pike Place Market, Kerry Park and Pioneer Square are free to walk.
Meals are at your own expense. Pike Place has the widest choice, and we will reserve a table anywhere in the city if you prefer to sit down.
Pickup and Drop-Off
| Location | What to expect |
| Downtown Vancouver hotels | Early lobby meet, usually 7:00 to 7:30am |
| Surrey, Delta and White Rock | Closest to the border, later pickup possible |
| Vancouver International Airport (YVR) | Possible, though a long day after a flight |
| Seattle hotels or Sea-Tac Airport | One-way drop-off available at the same rate |
| Canada Place cruise terminal | Not suitable, see below |
Cruise passengers. An eleven-hour tour with an international border in the middle has no margin against a ship’s all-aboard time. A single slow crossing could cost you the sailing, so we do not sell this as a shore excursion.
Vehicles
- Luxury Sedan — up to 2 guests
- Luxury SUV — up to 5 guests, extra luggage space
- Executive Van — 6 to 14 guests, high roof
- Wheelchair Accessible Sedan — 1 accessible passenger plus 3
- Wheelchair Accessible Van — 1 accessible passenger plus 7
- Minibus — up to 23 guests
Eleven hours is a long day in a vehicle, so we send SUVs and vans for groups of three or more. Every vehicle carries water, phone charging and rear climate control.
Note that larger vehicles sometimes route through different border lanes, which can change the wait. Your chauffeur will pick the fastest option available on the day.
Practical Notes
Money. US dollars or a card without foreign transaction fees. Most Seattle venues are card-only now.
Phones. Canadian plans usually charge roaming in the US. Turn on a US day pass before you cross or switch to wifi.
Time zone. Vancouver and Seattle are both Pacific Time, so no change.
Weather. Seattle and Vancouver share a climate. Layers and a rain jacket from October to April.
Mobility. The Space Needle, Chihuly Garden, Museum of Flight and Seattle Premium Outlets are all step-free. Pike Place Market is built on a slope with stairs between levels, though lifts exist. Tell us and we will plan the stops.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Per vehicle rate |
| Luxury Sedan | up to 2 | $2,106 |
| Luxury SUV | up to 5 | $2,301 |
| Wheelchair Accessible Sedan | 1 accessible + 3 | $2,314 |
| Wheelchair Accessible Van | 1 accessible + 7 | $3,445 |
| Executive Van | 6 to 14 | $2,899 |
Tour Rates
Pickup inside the City of Vancouver, returning to the same address, or one-way with drop-off in Seattle. All-inclusive of tax, gratuity, surcharges and parking.
Attraction admission and meals are not included.
Rates are in Canadian dollars. Across an executive van this compares well with flights or the Amtrak Cascades for a group, and you keep the vehicle all day on the other side.
Moving to Seattle rather than visiting? The same rate covers a one-way drop-off at a Seattle hotel or Sea-Tac Airport, so you can sightsee on the way down.
Best Times to Book
June to September
Long daylight, the clearest chance of seeing Mount Rainier, and everything open on full hours.
Weekdays
Border waits are shorter and Pike Place is walkable rather than shoulder to shoulder.
December
Seattle Center and Pike Place both decorate heavily, and outlet pricing is at its best. Daylight is short, so the return leg is dark.
Avoid Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and long weekends
Southbound and northbound queues both peak then, and an hour lost at the booth is an hour lost from your stops.

Victoria Full Day Tour - FAQs
Do we need a passport for the Seattle tour?
Yes. Every passenger needs valid travel documents for entry to the United States and re-entry to Canada. Canadian and US citizens can also use a NEXUS card or enhanced driver’s licence at land crossings.
Do we need an ESTA or a US visa?
If you are a Visa Waiver Program national you need an approved ESTA before travelling. Other nationalities need a valid US visa. Being a visitor in Canada does not grant you entry to the United States.
How long does the Seattle tour take?
About eleven hours door to door, sometimes twelve on a busy border day. That covers the drive, the crossing, three ninety-minute stops and the return.
How long is the border wait?
Anywhere from ten minutes to over an hour. It is worst on Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and long weekends. We check live wait times and choose the faster crossing.
What happens if someone is refused entry?
We return to Vancouver. Entry decisions rest with border officers, and the tour rate still applies because the vehicle and chauffeur were provided. Check documents carefully before booking.
Can we shop duty free at the outlets?
Not on a same-day trip. Canadian residents returning after less than 24 hours outside the country do not qualify for a personal exemption, so purchases can be assessed for duty and tax. Check the CBSA site for current rules.
How many attractions can we visit?
Three, at about ninety minutes each. The Space Needle and Chihuly Garden sit next door to each other, so that pairing works particularly well.
Is the Boeing factory tour running?
Availability has varied in recent years, and Future of Flight is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We check for your date before confirming that stop. The Museum of Flight is open daily and is often the better choice.
Can you drop us off in Seattle instead of returning?
Yes. A one-way drop-off at a Seattle hotel or Sea-Tac Airport is available at the same rate, so you can sightsee on the way down.
Is this suitable as a cruise excursion?
No. An eleven-hour day with an international border in the middle leaves no margin against a ship’s all-aboard time, so we do not sell it to cruise passengers.
Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Largely yes. The Space Needle, Chihuly Garden, Museum of Flight and the outlets are step-free. Pike Place Market is built on a slope with stairs between levels, though lifts are available.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 48 hours before pickup for a full refund. Inside 48 hours, a partial charge applies. Pre-purchased attraction tickets follow the venues’ own policies.
